Sheffield Thunder u12s celebrated their second home win of the season against Whitley Bay at the weekend.

With a number of players unavailable, and storm Babet taking its toll too, the game required several players to step up lines and also play out of their normal position, as well as a number of Samurai u10s making their u12s hockey debut.

Jenson Dunwell scored the opening goal in the first period – his first for the team. After 7 further goals from Thunder, the mercy rule was invoked.

Outstanding performances from all three lines, and brilliant under 12 debuts for Chester Lowe, HJ Orwin and Wilf Newton ensured Thunder took maximum points.

Man of the Match, sponsored by Toxic Hockey UK for Sheffield went to Jack Woodhead for an excellent performance in defence, having stepped up to cover the position from his usual forward role.

Thor – Played like a God, was awarded to Louis Oates.
