Sheffield Sabres U14s vs Billingham
Sheffield Sabres put up a spirited performance against a strong, well disciplined Billigham team. The game started with early nerves showing from Sheffield and Billingham capitalising on this with an early goal after just over a minute. Billingham followed this up with another two quick goals within the opening seven minutes. The nerves then settled and Sabres became more confident as the game developed. Jayden Collingwood making some great saves to keep the score line down. Sabres then held Billingham back and clear team play started to produce defensive results.
In the second period Billingham started witn a quick goal but Sabres held their heads high and Finlay Brooke’s skated through the Billingham defence to score a great first goal for the Sabres. No more goals in the second period despite the increased shots on goal and an increasingly strong defensive performance from a rallying Sabres team.
The third period saw Billingham open the scoring but this was quickly answered by another excellent goal this time by Ellis Thomas who lifted the puck over the goalie with a great back hander. Sabres had clearly found their confidence and responded well to guidance from the coaches. Despite another goal from Billingham, Sabres again rallied and had an increased number of shots. The effort paid off with Ethan Widdowson finally bagging a goal after multiple attempts. Some great team work saw Sabres spending more time in the offensive zone but further goals just too elusive for the Sabres with a solid performance from Billinghams goalie being matched by an equally solid performance from Jacob Robinson.

Hardest worker was given to Finlay B from Jayden for playing really well, he got a goal and an assist and was solid in D.
