Lasers 14s welcomed Whitley Bay Junior Ice Hockey Club to Sheffield this weekend for their first game of the season.

Tyler Softley opened the scoring with a cracking shot from the blue line to take the lasers 1-0 up. A shot at the end of the first period by Rory Hill bounced off the inside of the post to keep the scoreline at 1-0.

Sheffield came off the bench with Whitely Bay firmly in their sights, scoring 2 more goals in the second period – including a goal for Rory Hill and a first for Sheffield newcomer Arthur Rosentals.

The third period saw a flurry of goals; Ollie Brown scored unassisted, with another goal for Rory. Arthur scored two further goals to bag himself a hatrick on his Sheffield debut. Goal number 8 was scored by Brandon Lake, followed by 2 short-handed goals by Rory. Spencer Sheldon-Wright made it 11-0, with the mercy rule invoked by Rory after scoring his 5th goal of the game! 🏒🥅

Lasers continued to pile on the pressure until the end of the game resulting in a superb start to the season.

Man of the Match went to Rory Hill for an outstanding performance🏅and Played like a boss to Tyler Softley 👌🏻
